Small Groups
We have many different forms of small groups and classes; some in homes, some for men only, some for women only and some on Sunday mornings. Our small group program is a place where you can feel like part of a family. It’s a place where you can learn more about the Bible and explore your faith in a non-threatening way. They also provide opportunities for participation in group prayer, learn new skills and community service.
Our Sunday morning, co-ed groups are called Acts 2. The Acts 2 groups are modeled after the early church, as described in Acts 2:42, 46-47 'They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.'
In other words, our Acts 2 groups are designed to function as the church did in the New Testament. No matter how the church changes, the Acts 2 groups will be a place where you can feel like you’re part of a family.
Why did you start Acts 2 groups? Most people who come to church want to build relationships. They want to be known and loved. It becomes increasingly difficult to connect with people on a meaningful level as a church grows. Our Acts 2 groups were created to offer an environment that will encourage interpersonal interaction. They were also formed to provide discipleship and teaching on a deeper level than is found in the weekly services.
While Acts 2 groups are meant to provide in-depth Bible teaching, they are also a safe place to begin learning about God and the Bible. You are welcome to join an Acts 2 group regardless of where you are in your spiritual walk.
When and where do the Acts 2 groups meet? We know that young families have busy lives, so we’ve tried to make it as easy as possible for people to participate in an Acts 2 group. Our Acts 2 groups meet during every Sunday morning service. Your children can enjoy our children’s ministry while you participate in the service and then in the Acts 2 group. The classrooms sometimes change, so if you would like to visit an Acts 2 group, please stop by the information table for more information. Each group has social functions that meet at other times during the week as well. If you would like more information about these events, please stop by the information table on Sunday morning, or call the church office at 810-724-8800.
Who should be in an Acts 2 group? Acts 2 groups are primarily intended for adults, but teens are welcome to attend as well. Many of the social events are designed to include children. Whether you are testing the spiritual waters, you’ve just made a commitment to follow Christ, or you’re mature in your walk with Christ, an Acts 2 group is for you!
Do I have to sign up? You do not have to sign up to attend a group. Feel free to visit any group at any time. In fact, we encourage people to visit more than one group until you find the one that’s right for you and your family.
How do I find out more? You can learn more about Acts 2 groups by calling our office at 810-724-8800.
